Low-income housing (continued):
Another thing about these low-income apartments for disabled people is that, maybe there are apartments that are low income and have those amenities but, if they do, those apartments are only offered to people over the ages of 50, 55, or 60. I really think that also needs to change and have lower income apartments be for all ages of adults with disabilities. Some people with disabilities might not have the best physical coordination either, when it comes to washing dishes by hand.
AS far as rules for living in low-income housing apartments and what not, I also feel that they need to change the rules and not be so strict with everyone who moves into these apartments, and they should look at each tenant's situation, more case by case. I think in some cases, if the tenant wants to have someone move into their unit with them who isn't a member of their immediate family, I feel that should be their right. And if they want to have a pet living with them, and not just because they're a service pet, then that should be their right. And if they can handle having more than one pet living with them at a time, like maybe 2 or 3 pets, that should be their right, as well. But I agree they still need to draw the line, somewhere.

Just got done with my policy funding session. Our next assignment is to talk to our Legislators. I suppose one thing I could mention is how in the past when I was given a list of all these supposed low in come apartments in Waukesha County, it really only gave me the names and numbers of these apartments but never really any more information than that. I know it did list that in order to move into some of them you had to be 50 or older. Other than that, I think these apartments could have given me a little bit more information about them like, what kind of amenities they have in the units. I figured it might help the person in deciding if whether or not they even want to live there, or not. It might be something to talk to the legislator about if I talk to this person.
