I am a social worker who provides case management through a Home- and Community-Based Services waiver program. I am also a disabled & neurodivergent person. One thing that is really important to me is making sure that social services are led and influenced by the people who are receiving them. People like to use words like "self-directed" and "person-centered" but don't always follow through with what those words actually mean in terms of truly respecting the autonomy of disabled people.
