The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) is hosting an online public forum regarding electronic visit verification (EVV) for home health care services (HHCS) on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. CT.
EVV for HHCS will be required in Wisconsin by January 2024. EVV is required by federal law. All states must require EVV to maintain full federal Medicaid funding.
Currently, Wisconsin anticipates the following home health care services will be required to capture EVV data (service codes 92507, 97139, 97799, 99600, 99504, S9123, S9124, T1001, T1021, T1502, S9097, T1030, T1031). EVV for HHCS will be required in Medicaid and BadgerCare Plus fee-for-service, BadgerCare Plus and SSI HMOs, and Family Care and Family Care Partnership programs.
At this time, home health care providers do not need to purchase anything to be in compliance with the EVV requirement. These providers are encouraged to become familiar with EVV at the DHS forum.

Reminder
EVV has been required in Wisconsin for Medicaid-covered personal care and applicable supportive home care services since November 2, 2020. In order for Wisconsin Medicaid to continue to receive its full federal funding, DHS is required to begin imposing consequences for failure to capture required EVV information.
For dates of service on and after May 1, 2023, DHS will begin imposing financial and programmatic consequences when EVV information is not captured for required personal care and supportive home care services (service codes T1019, T1020, S5125, and S5126).
