Webinar: Accessible Recreational Boating Facilities and Fishing Piers and Platforms

Thursday August 4 2022, 1:30 PM - Thursday August 4 2022, 3:00 PM
@ Online

Sunshine and time on the water! Everyone enjoys boating and fishing with friends and family during the summer, including persons with disabilities. The 2010 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accessibility Standards and the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) Accessibility Standards include scoping and technical provisions for recreational boating facilities and fishing piers and platforms. These standards cover municipal marinas, federal recreational boating facilities, private sector marinas and boating facilities, and facilities designed and constructed for fishing. The next webinar in the U.S. Access Board's free monthly series will take place August 4 from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. (CT) and provide information on accessibility requirements for boat slips and technical provisions that apply to gangways connecting floating facilities, routes connecting fixed facilities, clear space, handrail, and edge protection. Additionally, Accessibility Specialists from the Board will address associated elements and facilities that support recreational boating and fishing facilities.
