This National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) webinar shares highlights from a new NASHP report, Paying Family Caregivers through Medicaid Consumer-Directed Programs: State Opportunities and Innovations, that explores states’ fresh approaches to consumer-directed programs supporting older adults and people with physical disabilities.
Programs that can pay family members for providing care can help support home- and community-based care for Medicaid enrollees and help states address the demand for long-term services and supports.
During the webinar, state officials from Virginia and Connecticut will describe how they have developed consumer direction programs that support older adults and people with physical disabilities and their family caregivers. The report and webinar are generously supported by The John A. Hartford Foundation and are initiatives of the RAISE Act Family Caregiver Resource and Dissemination Center.
