Please Join the Southwest and Great Lakes ADA Centers for an ADA Legal series webinar on "The ADA and Religious Institutions," on Wednesday, March 18th at 1:00 p.m. central.
Religious organizations are largely exempt from the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). But what about places of public accommodation or programs that are controlled by these entities? What does this mean for religious entities that operate schools? Are employees of religious organizations covered by the employment provisions of the ADA? If the ADA does not apply to these entities, can states then require them to comply with their accessibility standards? Vinh Nguyen, JD, Director of the Southwest ADA Center will discuss these and related issues including:
Whether Title I of the ADA applies to religious entities as employers
If and how the ADA applies to religious organizations in situations where they provide goods, services, or programs to the public.
How receiving federal funds impacts these organizations under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
