Webinar: Accessible Storytelling for Film & Video

Webinar: Accessible Storytelling for Film & Video

Thursday August 20 2026, 1:00 PM - Thursday August 20 2026, 2:30 PM
@ Virtual

The Great Lakes ADA Center invites you to register for the upcoming Arts-n-Rec session titled “Accessible Storytelling for Film & Video,” featuring Matt Lauterbach, Filmmaker, Accessible Media Artist, and Founder of All Senses Go.

When a video tells an engaging story, viewers may laugh, gasp, say “oh!” or “aha” or “no way!” Accessible videos add additional layers of storytelling that make it possible for blind and D/deaf visitors to engage at the same level with your content, and to have similar reactions of enjoyment, surprise, and interest.

This session will explore three key ADA video accessibility requirements: closed captions, visual description, and transcripts. We’ll discuss best practices for the creation of high-quality media accessibility assets and introduce some DIY tools for institutions interested in creating in-house accessibility workflows. Most importantly, this webinar will encourage media producers to “leave room” for accessible storytelling, by sharing several concrete steps you can take to produce your film or video with accessibility in mind.
