In Wisconsin more than 110,000 adults experience significant vision loss. The number of people who are blind or low vision is anticipated to grow by 118% by 2050, including those who will lose sight as they age. To live our best lives with dignity and independence, people who are blind and low vision need access to assistive technologies to sustain the ability to work, reach out for healthcare, perform an array of activities of daily living and stay socially connected and emotionally healthy.

Join Jim Denham and Denise Jess from the Wisconsin Council of the Blind & Visually Impaired to deepen your knowledge of these assistive technologies and the impact on the quality of life for people experiencing vision loss. The latest tools designed to empower individuals with vision loss to access information across a variety of platforms will be demonstrated and explored. The benefits of built-in accessibility features, as compared to third-party solutions, will also be examined. Finally, the advantages and drawbacks of integrating Artificial Intelligence capabilities into assistive technology for this specific population will be highlighted.
