Description:

The ADA protects inmates with disabilities in correctional settings, including their right to program access and reasonable accommodations. This presentation will examine the barriers faced by inmates who are managing mental health challenges while navigating the court system in custody. We will discuss how to identify these obstacles and develop individualized plans to address them by connecting and coordinating inmate needs across multiple systems. Attendees will learn about the successful strategies and logistical approaches implemented in our county jail, as well as partnerships with other county and community divisions, to help reduce recidivism
