Building and life safety codes require that facilities provide accessible means of egress so that all people, including those with disabilities, can relocate and evacuate in a timely and safe manner. The 2010 ADA Accessibility Standards and the Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standards reference the International Building Code (IBC) for accessible means of egress. In this session on Thursday, March 6 from 1:30 – 3:00 pm (CT), presenters will provide an overview of the minimum technical requirements for accessible means of egress in the IBC, including criteria for emergency evacuation for people with disabilities, evacuation planning, alarms, evacuation route inside and outside of the building, and signage. For more information or to register, visit the Great Lakes ADA Center’s webinar webpage. All webinars include video remote interpreting (VRI) and real-time captioning. Questions can be submitted in advance of the session or can be posed during the live webinar. Webinar attendees can earn continuing education credits. The webinar series is hosted by the ADA National Network in cooperation with the Board. Archived copies of previous Board webinars are available on the site. |
