The number of U.S. adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) over the age of 60 is steadily increasing. By 2030, the number of adults with I/DD aged 60 and older is projected to reach 1.2 million people. The physical, cognitive, functional, and behavioral changes associated with aging typically present earlier and in different ways for individuals living with I/DD. There are emerging opportunities for health plans and providers to support aging individuals living with I/DD and their families and caregivers through integrated care that addresses the needs of the whole person across the life span.

Speakers will address how to:

1. Recognize the physical, cognitive, and behavioral changes typical of the aging process, and how these changes may manifest for someone with I/DD
2. Identify key supports families, health plans, providers and individuals with I/DD may need to manage these types of changes across the life span
3. Describe an integrated approach health plans can utilize to respond to the needs of individuals with I/DD as they age
